Fang Hongwei: Heavy trucks need to strictly enforce energy conservation, environmental protection and emission regulations

The "2010 China International Automobile Industry Development International Forum" with the theme of "China's auto industry transformation and upgrading" as the annual theme was opened on September 3, 2010 in Tianjin Binhai New Area. Senior officials from government departments, foreign automobile association organizations and enterprises have conducted extensive and in-depth discussions on the issue of transformation and upgrading of the automotive industry.

Mr. Fang Hongwei, the chairman of Shaanxi Automobile Group Co., Ltd., addressed the topic of "Implementing Independent Innovation and Building the Core Competitiveness of Self-Reliable Heavy Truck Brands." Sina Automotive first reported live reports from the site.

Chairman of Shaanxi Automobile Group Co., Ltd. Fang Hongwei

Fang Hongwei: Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon, everyone!

I am very privileged to use this opportunity. I will talk to you about the development of the heavy truck industry in China. I will focus on the heavy truck industry and will mention the development of Shaanxi. I mainly put forward some views from the perspective of the industry, and we will communicate with.

Let us first look at two slides. The first one reveals the development trend of the heavy-duty truck industry from 2000 to 2010. We have seen that from the beginning of 2000 to today, the entire heavy-duty truck industry has basically shown steady growth. The momentum of sustainable development has grown at an average annual growth rate of more than 25%. Among them, Shaanxi Auto, as a member of the heavy truck industry, is developing at a faster rate. This development is mainly driven by the market, but we also see that In the middle of the curve in the second half of the year, heavy trucks in other parts of the world basically maintained a stable trend. In the second piece, we simulated the relationship between the development of the heavy truck industry in China and the growth rate of China's GDP. Through this simulation, we found that the degree of correlation is very high, exceeding 0.9%. It should be said that the development of the heavy truck industry benefits from the entire economy and society. The development benefited from the growth of investment and benefited from the growth of GDP. It should be said that the growth of the heavy-duty truck industry is mainly the result of market pull, because it is basically a fixed-asset investment, and it shows a positive correlation with the growth of GDP. This is the status quo in our current industry. Here I will communicate with you from three aspects.

The current heavy truck industry is facing problems.

First, I personally think that the development of heavy trucks is still in a period of quantitative growth. There has been no real qualitative change from quantitative changes. From the perspective of current capacity, although there are 600,000, 700,000 or even more market demands each year, our current planning capacity or existing capacity has far exceeded market demand. Everyone’s attention is still focused on the increase in production capacity. Among them, there are 30 announced manufacturers, 10 unannounced manufacturers, and the entire production capacity exceeds 2 million vehicles. In this process, the policy environment has also spawned this capacity. One of our growth is the long-term policy formulation for the development of our heavy-duty truck industry. We have basically adopted a relatively heavy volume attitude in the process of formulating policies and implementing policies, so the threshold is very low. Heavy trucks are considered to be technology-intensive and capital-intensive, and anyone who wants to do heavy trucks can do it. Relatively speaking, it is still relatively low. In addition, some new environmental protection regulations are not strictly enforced in the implementation process, so the heavy truck industry is basically in a The process of quantitative change is still an impetuous stage.

Second, the influence of the brand is relatively small. Whether it is the high-end heavy trucks we sell in China, or the amount of heavy trucks in foreign markets, or the proportion of possessions in the world market, we are all a brand with insufficient influence, mainly relying on some of our relatively inexpensive Get market price or cost. We all know that heavy truck products have gone through the process of introduction and digestion, and now they basically move from the process of importing and digesting localization to the development of applications. However, the work that should be done in basic development is still far from enough.

Third, the focus of industry is still in the manufacturing sector. China heavy truck companies are basically developing products, manufacturing products, selling products, and providing some necessary after-sales services. In the post-market segment, there is basically no scale of industrialization. Everybody says that 80% of the profit or income of foreign auto companies comes from the service, and our own proportion is very small, so we are basically at the basic of the smile curve. stage.

Fourth, the use of resources in the industrial sector is relatively decentralized. Once the industry was relatively difficult, some mergers and acquisitions were carried out, and the division of labor of professionalization was basically formed. However, due to the rapid growth of the market, everyone started their own hands-on activities. From parts and components to complete vehicles, they produced their own products. , to develop their own. Therefore, the trend of specialized division of labor is now turning back.

Fifth, the export market is confusing. There are three typical problems in the middle of the export market:

1, the product itself can not fully meet the needs of the export market under different regions, different use plans, and different usage habits. Frequent product design and manufacturing defects caused by adverse market impact, thus affecting the influence of Chinese brands in foreign countries .

2. The service of export products is similar to the service model of domestic sales of products. Because products are exported to foreign countries, their service is far more difficult than domestic ones. The new situations and new problems that they encounter should be said to be more complicated than domestic sales, but we tend to consider less in this regard. We see new players joining the heavy truck industry. I think this is a good thing. Everyone participates in the competition to increase the industry’s survival of the fittest. However, we also see that companies that have just entered the industry will quickly export large volumes of products to foreign countries. I think this phenomenon is very worrying.

3. Due to the influence of international political, economic, and exchange rate changes in the business operations, resources are very limited in this process. It is difficult for a single company to go it alone and it is difficult to open up foreign markets because in the international sales process, a company can integrate The resources are very limited, and countries, industries, enterprises and enterprises need to unite and share some resources. In these areas, we basically have not yet formed a scale, so we say that the heavy truck industry is currently in a relatively chaotic state in the export market. Primary Stage.

Sixth, we have relatively low development capacity, attach importance to applied development, and have insufficient investment in basic research and development. The core issue at the center is not that companies do not invest in causes. Some companies are quite capable and willing to invest. However, due to policy guidance and traction in the consumer environment, companies do not dare to invest or are willing to invest. Because companies that invest more often are the ones that suffer most, companies often do not dare to invest. Fundamentally investing in one is applied development. The other is that the state has introduced policies, how to adapt to policies, and sometimes even respond to policies.

The future development trend of the second industry.

First, transformation and upgrading are a major trend. Today's theme of this forum is the theme of industrial upgrading. From the perspective of the organizer, it stands tall, looks far, and the pressure for industrial upgrading and transformation is even greater. We have gradually improved from these operating modes and operating modes just described. To keep up with the development model of developed countries or some well-known companies, we have a long way to go, and the pressure for transformation and upgrading of the heavy truck industry may be higher than that of any one. The industry must be urgent.

The second is the trend of high-end products. With the intensification of international and domestic competition and the impact of national policies, users are demanding more and more heavy trucks, and they are required to put more and more proposals on the humanization, intelligence, security enhancement and reliability improvement of value. This is a big trend.

Third, specialization In the past, the degree of concern of our OEMs for special vehicles was not very high. Therefore, we say that China’s special-purpose vehicles are basically relying on the private sector and rely on non-traditional automobile companies to gradually develop. We should say that we are very pleased to see that through these years of development, a group of very good special-purpose vehicle companies have emerged. And there are some products that should be doing very well and even have a leading position in the international market. However, we have seen that the direction of specialization should be given to passenger vehicle companies and highly supported by the industry and government. Because I feel that with the economic and social development, the trend of specialization requires that our products become more and more precise and more and more able to adapt to specific needs, rather than to meet the requirements of all passenger cars as we have in the past. The time has passed.

The fourth is the trend of low carbonation. In the heavy-duty truck industry, the trend of low carbonization is relatively small. We are more concerned about how to develop new energy vehicles in the field of passenger cars. However, in the heavy-duty truck industry, I think that it should be worth paying attention because the heavy-duty truck industry is a real high. Energy-consuming industries, its consumption is quite large. In a commercial vehicle, the energy consumption of heavy trucks is quite high, and the pollution is also the most serious, so I think it is the most concern. Our industry should feel conscious that we should recognize this trend. We must not do anything because nobody has mentioned or mentioned it to a low degree. I think we must be aware of this trend. In the middle of this, we also made some efforts to try. It should now be said that we have pure electric heavy-duty trucks, which are mainly used in the ports of some big cities. Because the port is a source of pollution and the speed of travel is very low, basically when it is in the port, when trans-shipping containers, it is basically not environmentally friendly. Phenomenon, we have developed a pure electric heavy truck in cooperation with related industries. At the same time, among our new energy products, our CNG products and LNG products have been fully industrialized. I think we may have several thousand this year. Heavy trucks using natural gas travel in areas with natural gas resources. From compressed natural gas, LNG has been developed until now. Take a heavy-duty truck. For example, in the past when compressed natural gas was used, it was about 300 tons to 500 tons. After using liquefied natural gas, it can reach 800 to 1,000 tons. About 45% of diesel fuel is saved, total carbon emissions are reduced by 80% compared with diesel, and after using natural gas, the economic benefits generated can be completely subsidized by the government like electric vehicles. Without government subsidies, there is no way to operate, and the economy is created by itself to create an economy. Benefits are the industries that can be made and they also want the media to pay attention. At the same time we are also exploring the use of methanol in natural gas vehicles.

The third proposal for the heavy truck industry.

First, at the national or industrial level, we must create an environment for independent innovation. One is to have independent innovation in sales. In the market, we must encourage products with independent innovation, energy-saving and environmentally friendly products, and enhance our core from a long-term perspective. Competitive products should be encouraged in the consumer environment.

Second, when formulating regulations for energy conservation, environmental protection, and emissions, regulations must be formulated strictly, and laws and regulations must be enforced. Today, when we heard leaders of Sinopec reporting at the conference, they also said that they will meet the Euro III emission standards for diesel in the middle of next year. On the market, we can see how big the fuel supply and the implementation of the policy are. Moreover, the relative detours in the middle have reflected the basic attitude of our government or industry to the development of the industry. It seems that it is the immediate interests of the company, but it actually involves the long-term development of the industry and promotes projects at the national level. I think that an industry needs to develop. It is not enough to depend solely on the strength of a company. It also depends on the enterprise to do something. Some of the recent lightweight tasks that we have done include some projects in other areas, including the fact that we have also undertaken major scientific research projects related to the 863. I think these are all very good systems and should continue to be strengthened in these areas.

The third is to improve the industrial management system. Don't let people think that doing heavy trucks is too easy. It may be detrimental to the development of the industry under certain circumstances. Therefore, I think that the threshold should be raised appropriately. The setting of this threshold should be conducive to the society, to the industry, and to the construction of our own brand.

The fourth is to increase the joint innovation of the industry. After a long period of competition between our company and our company, everyone has also seen the development of this industry. Everyone has basically seen some of their own factors and balanced their own characteristics. I think we should combine the entire vehicle and parts and components between our enterprises and enterprises to jointly overcome some technical and industrial problems.

Fifth, the innovation of the business model and the innovation of technology are the basis for independent innovation. Independent innovation requires the environment and requires a platform.

The sixth is to provide a platform for management model innovation and business model innovation. In this regard, Shaanxi Automobile has also made some attempts. The main thing we are doing now is to transform our traditional manufacturing enterprises into a service-oriented one. So we are now working on, or we are working on. It is necessary to transform Shaanxi Auto from a manufacturing-oriented enterprise to a service-oriented enterprise. For this reason, we have done a lot of work. No matter whether it is the process of sorting out or the expansion of business, especially the transformation of business models, in the later period we are selling products with services.

Seventh, it is able to provide customers with a comprehensive solution for the entire life cycle. I think this is very beneficial to the development of our industry.
