Jiangsu Provincial Metrology Institute's project fills the domestic gap through argumentation

Recently, the first research project undertaken by the Postdoctoral Workstation of the Quality Supervision Institute of the Jiangsu Provincial Metrology Institute, “Development of Standard Materials for Water in Diesel Oil,” was demonstrated by five experts from Nanjing University and Nanjing University of Technology. Since then, the quality supervision postdoctoral workstation of this institute has officially started operation.

At present, the most effective method for evaluating the apparatus for determining the trace amount of water in a sample is to use a corresponding standard substance. Although domestic and foreign countries have successfully developed a moisture standard substance such as a methanol-water system and a xylene-water system, diesel is used as a standard substance. The moisture standard substance for the matrix is ​​still blank.

The technical staff of postdoctoral workstations of quality supervision institutes of Jiangsu Provincial Measurement Institute have extensively investigated and selected purified hexadecane, iso-octane and other organic substances as the matrix, and used the gravimetric method to prepare the water standard substance, using the internationally recognized authoritative method Coulomb method and capacity. The method is verified to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the measurement results. The experts at the meeting unanimously believed that the program was scientific and reasonable, and the method was feasible. The research results would fill the gaps in the country and agreed to pass the demonstration. The successful development of the project will solve the problems such as traceability and effectiveness of trace moisture measurement results in the power, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, and other industries, and will have great social benefits.
