France builds a large-scale offshore wind power base worth 15 billion euros

On August 24th, France reportedly will invite the construction of a 3,000 MW offshore wind power generation base in September. The wind power generation base will be built in the Loire Valley, north of Brittany, Languedoc-Roussillon and the Normandy coast, encircling Senna. River bays and the Soma Bay to avoid damaging scenery and shipping. 3000 megawatts of generating capacity is equivalent to the power of two EPR nuclear power plants. The French Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection describes this investment as approximately 15 billion to 20 billion euros.

The construction period of this large-scale wind energy base is relatively long. The first batch of wind power generation equipment will wait until the second half of 2015. It will take at least a year and a half for the successful construction of this large-scale wind energy base to determine successful bidders. In 2004, France had failed to bid for the offshore wind power generation base.
