Significant progress in research on key technologies for large-scale floating structures of CSIC

According to the China National Shipping (Stock) Heavy Industry Group, the national team consisting of shipyards, research institutes, universities, and classification societies is actively engaged in the research of key technologies for large-scale marine floating structures, and joint research. Collaborative innovation has made a series of breakthrough technology research progress. In the draft of the 13th Five-Year Plan, which was submitted to the Fourth Session of the 12th National People's Congress this year, the development and engineering of large-scale floating structures were included in the 100 major projects to be implemented in China in the next five years.

     Large floating structures can be placed near the coast as an extension of the land, expanding the functionality and use of the original facility. Japan, the United States, etc. have started research in this field since the 1980s, and domestic research institutes, universities, etc. have also carried out research on the mechanism, design technology and application technology of large floating structures.

     The national team led by CSIC Group has carried out a large number of basic and mechanistic research based on the international advanced level. It describes the complex environment of medium-sized, large-scale and super-large offshore floating structures. The design and calculation method of hydroelasticity of floating body under the action of non-uniform wave flow, extreme load forecasting, multi-floating coordinated mooring (purchasing and supply of product warehouse) analysis, structural safety and reliability assessment and corrosion protection technology have achieved fruitful results. Applying the technical achievements, the project team will further deepen the research and lay a solid theoretical and technical foundation for the engineering application of the super large floating body.
