Hyundai Heavy Industries won the container ship equipment supply contract
On July 9, the Siemens Siemens Technologies business unit of Siemens, Germany, signed a supply contract for the environmentally friendly drive unit and power generation system “Siship SGM†with Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The contract is for the contract to install Siemens' drive and power generation systems on 17 new ultra-large container ships of the United Arab Shipping Company. The related "Siship SGM" system uses the waste heat recovery system to produce electricity using the exhaust gas discharged from the main engine, which can reduce fuel consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 12%, which is a low-fuel, environmentally friendly device.
At the same time, Siemens' Drive system acts as a shaft generator, playing the role of engine and generator, providing a higher level of power management system. The wear of the main drive unit and the auxiliary unit can be effectively suppressed by the system, and the system provides an efficient and flexible power generation process.
In addition, Hyundai Heavy Industries and UASC signed a contract for the construction of 10 container ships of 10 18800TEU and 5 14500TEU in 2013. Moreover, one 18,000 TEU class and six 14,000 TEU class alternative ships included in the relevant contract this year came into effect.
