Secondary enrichment of foam

In the three-phase foam, a part of the continuous body and the hydrophilic gangue particles are often entrained, and the particles are fixed on the surface of the collector to form a weak hydrophobic property, and the bubbles are brought into the foam. Most of them are due to mechanical inclusions entering the foam layer.

The water in the foam layer flows downwards, rinsing most of the entrained particles and returning them to the slurry. In addition, when the bubbles are merged in the foam layer, the area of the gas-liquid interface is reduced, and the particles originally loaded on the bubbles are rearranged, and a "secondary enrichment action" occurs, so that the hydrophobicity is still attached to the bubbles, and the weak is Brought to the lower layer by water or into the slurry. This makes the grade of the foam product increase again, and this effect is called secondary enrichment.
